What is Head Start?
Head Start is a comprehensive child development program which serves children age 3 to 5 and their families. Individualized services are provided in the areas of early childhood education and development; medical, dental and mental health, nutrition and parent involvement.
TRI-CAP Head Start is funded to serve 193 age and income eligible preschool children and their families. These children are served in 5 centers (Jasper, Petersburg, Boonville, Newburgh, and Tennyson) and offer a variety of program models in order to meet family needs.
Head Start classes are being provided Monday through Friday, 4 hours a day in the morning and is free. Child care is provided in the afternoon if needed at the following sites: Jasper, Boonville, and Newburgh. There is a fee required for the child care portion. TRI CAP does accept child care vouchers for the afternoon child care sessions.
There are now many options to how you can sign up your child. We accept applications all year, so be sure to get yours in!

- You may also pick up applications or call any of the offices and we can mail you an application.
- For your convenience you can now submit your child’s application online. Click on the following link and when you have completed all of the information, submit the application. Once it is completed, one of the Head Start staff will contact you..
TRI-CAP participates in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) for meal reimbursement. Children receive breakfast and/or lunch and snacks each day the classrooms are in session.
